When is McKinney Paintless Dent Repair not an option?

Paintless Dent Repair is still relatively new in the United States. Most car owners have never even heard of the PDR technique and assume that all dent repair requires repainting or panel replacement.

Vehicle Paint Damage

A good rule of thumb is if the paint has been damaged in any way, PDR is not an option. For example, if the paint is scratched, chipped or peeling, PDR will not repair the damage 100%. We can remove the dent damage but the surface paint will still be damaged.

In an instance when the paint has been damaged, we can direct you to a reputable local McKinney auto body shop. If we can get the dent removed, the possibility of repainting might be an option.

If you have any questions or would like to schedule an appointment so we can see the damage and give you a free assessment, please feel free to reach out.

Too Much Dent Damage

The McKinney Paintless Dent Repair Hail Shop has seen the aftermath of multiple very damaging hail storms. McKinney is known for getting hit hard, often, and severely. We have seen auto hail damage as a result of baseball to softball sized hail storms. These are the vehicles that have shattered windshields, so many dents that you can’t even see where one starts and the other stops, deformed bumpers, and devastated owners. Unfortunately, we cannot repair these vehicles. In most cases, your insurance company will declare the vehicle “totaled.”

Automobile accidents can also do excessive and permanent damage to a vehicle. Panels can fold like origami and be dented so far in that the panel gets pushed off its hinges.  In an instance such as this one, Paintless Dent Repair is not an option.

Paintless Dent Repair can be an option sometimes. Some automobile accidents will do only minor damage. If the panel has been pushed in slightly and no paint damage has occurred, we can fix this damage.

Metal Damage

When it comes to collision dent damage, there are many levels of severity. If the collision caused the panel to simply bend inward and the paint wasn’t damaged, paintless dent repair is a good solution for removing the dent. Sometimes we will see a vehicle that has been hit so hard that the impact caused the metal to push inward and somehow twist or fold the panel. This kind of damage we can NOT repair in our McKinney Paintless Dent Repair shop. We can refer you to a conventional auto body shop that can.

If you have any questions about the severity of your damage and if it can be repaired with paintless dent repair, call us or schedule a free damage inspection.

McKinney, TX Paintless Dent Repair VS Conventional Auto Body Shop Dent Repair

If the paint is damaged or the number of dents is too much, or if the metal has been stressed or stretched, then a McKinney conventional auto body shop repair process is recommended. The convention dent repair method is completely different than the paintless dent repair method. Conventional repairs usually involve sanding down and straightening the damaged panel or replacing body panels. Once repairs are complete, the repaired panels of the car will be repainted.

Paintless Dent Repair takes anywhere from a couple of hours to 48 hours. Conventional auto body repair can take between a week and a month.
