Record-Breaking Texas Hail Occurrences
Once again, Northern Texas gets hit by yet another series of hail storms on April 6th. Almost exactly 1 year ago on April 21st, 2017 – Richardson and Plano saw hail up to 2 inches in diameter and baseball-size hail was reported west of McKinney. At least Mother Nature is consistent.
In early April, State Farm reported (again) that Texas still holds the winning title of state with most auto hail damage and roof damage claims in the United States. $610 million dollars worth of hail damage in Texas in 2017.

Denton County, TX
You would think the residents of Denton, TX would be used to early spring hailstorms but when Mother Nature throws hail the size of baseballs, there is nothing that can prepare you for that. Finding shelter was the first things on their minds. One mother coming home with her children took shelter in their garage and watched in horror as hailstones tore through their trees, broke the windshield on her car, and pounded into the sides of their home. Making sure her family was safe was the top priority thinking in horror what baseball sized mammoth hail could do to their bodies.
Collin County, TX
Baseball-sized hail also ripped through the north side of Plano, along with very strong winds, and torrential rain. Meanwhile, dime-sized hail fell in McKinney. Allen, TX residents tweeted photos of golf-ball sized hail. Front lawns throughout the county appeared to be white due to the millions of little hail balls.
